Diocletian’s Palace is a UNESCO World Heritage site where Split’s old town itself forms a living historical complex. You can enjoy a layered mix of alleys, squares, walls, and the underground cellars. It can be crowded, so visiting early morning or late afternoon is often more comfortable. Some stone floors—especially in the basements—can be slippery, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
