Pyramid of Shepseskaf, known as Mastabat al-Fir'aun (“Pharaoh’s Mastaba”), is an unusual Old Kingdom royal funerary monument with a mastaba-like form rather than a true pyramid. Its distinctive shape helps illustrate late Old Kingdom transitions in royal tomb architecture and is best visited with adequate time and sun protection due to its open setting.
