Mytilene Castle is a large fortress complex overlooking the port, with layers of Byzantine, Genoese, and Ottoman-era fortification that are readable through gates, walls, and defensive structures. It is a highlight for old-town walking and offers good viewpoints, but includes steps and uneven ground. Wear comfortable shoes and use sun protection in warmer months.
