Chiang Mai Province
Tha Pae Gate is the red brick gate of Chiang Mai's Old City, a symbol of the city's defense and trade routes during the Lanna dynasty. The square in front of the gate is a popular starting point for touring the Old City, and is photogenic with its soft light in the morning, orange shadows in the evening, and illuminated nights. Cafes and markets are scattered around the area, allowing you to enjoy walking around the city, culture, food, and photography all at once. Easily accessible, it's a popular spot for families, couples, and history buffs.
