Purana Qila (Old Fort)

Purana Qila is a massive historic fortress in New Delhi, associated mainly with the 16th-century rulers Humayun and Sher Shah Suri. Its imposing gateways, defensive walls, mosque, stepwell, and archaeological remains reflect several layers of Delhi’s history, while excavations indicate that the site was occupied long before the present fort was built.
