Jaisalmer Fort

Founded in the 12th century by Rawal Jaisal, Jaisalmer Fort rises dramatically above the Thar Desert on a hill of golden sandstone. Often described as a living fort because residents, temples, shops, and guesthouses remain within its walls, it forms part of the UNESCO-listed Hill Forts of Rajasthan.
